KUKA sponsors school team aiming for competition glory

130226_KukaKUKA Robotics UK is giving a helping hand to a group of Midlands students as they bid for glory in a national secondary school robotics competition. The company is sponsoring the team from North Bromsgrove High School, Bromsgrove, for the event, which takes place at London’s Excel Arena in March.

The Wednesbury-based company, a subsidiary of Europe’s largest robot manufacturer, has donated £1,000 so that pupils can purchase essential supplies to complete their robot.

The youngsters are set to take part in the contest’s ‘Sack Attack’ challenge, which involves producing robots that can operate both autonomously and under driver control to score the most points possible. They will be aiming to fight off competition from other schools around the country and win a place in the world championships in the USA later this year.

“KUKA is delighted to lend its support to a group of enthusiastic students who have been working hard for months on their designs and prototypes for this major event,” said general sales manager Ian Walker.
