Fast, compact delta robot for pick and place

130604_KawasakiKawasaki Robotics has introduced a lighter and more compact delta arm robot to its Pick-Star Y Series range. The YS200N robot is designed for high-speed pick and place applications in volume production industries including food, pharmaceutical and electronics.

Capable of lifting payloads up to 2kg, the new Kawasaki YS200N performs a standard industry TAC test (25mm/305mm/25mm) at 200 cycles per minute with a payload of 0.5kg. With a maximum payload of 2kg, the TAC test time is a high 166 cycles while maintaining repeatability of ±0.04mm and ±0.10°.

Offering the smallest footprint in the range the YS200N’s compact design is ideally suited to high density multi-robot lines and allows a useful work envelope of 200mm vertical and 600mm diameter. Weighing in at just 60kg the YS200N is ideally suited to cantilever mounting.

Designed with high reliability in mind, the Pick-Star Y Series has no centre shaft – the company says that reducing exposed components improves the robot’s ease of maintenance.

Helping to make the YS200N straight-forward to programme and to integrate is Kawasaki’s latest E-Controller. The E-Controller offers faster processing, increased memory, higher resolution encoding, increased communications options and intuitive teach pendant functionality.
