Schunk opens new facility in China

150603_SchunkAt a formal ceremony, clamping and gripping systems specialist Schunk opened a new China Headquarters in Shanghai. Schunk wants to push ahead with its investment program and expand its local presence in China, something that was emphasised by the company’s managing partner Henrik Schunk at the opening ceremony.

Since 2003, Schunk has been represented in China with its own subsidiary that has witnessed consistent growth since its market introduction. Henrik Schunk calls the new headquarters an important milestone in the 70-year history of the family-owned company, commenting at the opening ceremony that a new era of Schunk was beginning in the Chinese market.

The company says new location offers three decisive advantages. It enables Schunk to have more room for the growing number of Chinese staff. It also enables Schunk to build relationships with customers and create a knowledge transfer philosophy through the new Schunk Tech Centre.

With the help of proper functioning robot cells, visitors can have live demos of what can be achieved by using Schunk components and automation solutions. Moreover, workshops and practical training will be regularly offered by experienced technical experts.

“One of our most important objectives in China is to be on the spot when the customer needs us,” explains Henrik Schunk. “A long-term goal of Schunk is to strengthen and expand its market leading position for clamping technology and gripping systems worldwide. In this, China will be a third pillar alongside Europe and USA.”
