Alicona offers 3D metrology sensor for robot integration

151110_AliconaAlicona´s high resolution optical 3D metrology combined with a six-axis robot allows users to experience a high degree of automation as well as increased speed for quality assurance. The applied 3D measurement sensor is ideal for production: it is robust against vibrations and insensitive to ambient light, in addition to being fast and easily integrated in existing systems.

The Alicona 3D sensor provides multi-edge measurement in one measurement run. When integrated with a robot, it provides roughness, form and orientation measurement in a production line. Features include automatic measurement of even complex forms and steep flanks, as well as verification of highly reflective surfaces. The 3D metrology sensor is usable both fully automated and manual.

It offers Focus-Variation for area based 3D surface measurement. Focus-Variation is one of Alicona’s key technologies, combining the functionalities of a micro coordinate measurement machine (CMM) with those of a surface measurement system. For a user, this means to measure both form and roughness of components on an areal basis. The stable and robust technology of Focus-Variation delivers repeatable and traceable measurements even in a production near environment.

Alicona is a global supplier of optical 3D surface measurement solutions for quality assurance in the lab and in production. Our key competence is the measurement of form and roughness of even complex, miniaturized geometries.
