ABB introduces IRB 910SC SCARA robots

ABB IRB 910SC SCARA robotABB has announced its first ever SCARA robot family, the IRB 910SC. The IRB 910SC SCARA robot has a maximum payload of 6kg, and is available in three configurations (IRB 910SC –3/0.45, IRB 910SC – 3/0.55m, and IRB 910SC – 3/0.65.) All versions of the IRB 910SC are modular by design, with different linking arm lengths, and have individual reaches of 450mm, 550mm and 650mm respectively.

“When designing the IRB 910SC, we emphasised speed and accuracy,” says Phil Crowther, ABB product manager for small robots. “While small in size, our IRB 910SC robots incorporate the same high performance and design concepts as other ABB small robots such as superior path control and accuracy in a small footprint.”

ABB’s IRB 910SC SCARA family is designed for a variety of general-purpose applications requiring fast, repeatable and articulate point-to-point movements. Applications for the IRB 910SC include palletising, depalletising, machine loading/unloading and assembly. ABB says the IRB 910SC SCARA family is ideal for customers requiring rapid cycle times, high precision and high reliability for their small part assembly applications, and is suitable for laboratory automation and prescription drug dispensing.

“Variable reaches of 450mm, 550mm and 650mm on the IRB 910SC offer customers the option to choose the best arm for the job,” continues Crowther. Each IRB 910SC SCARA variant is IP54-rated for optimum protection against dust and liquids and is tabletop mountable.
