Omron and Reitec join forces on cobot palletiser

210721_Omron_3Innovation automation solutions can improve flexibility and boost productivity in the palletising sector, whilst still ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for workers. To meet the needs of customers in the fast-moving consumer goods industry (FMCG), Omron distributor and industrial automation specialist, Reitec Engineering Services, has developed the new RC-1 cobot palletiser solution.

Reitec is based in Las Palmas, in Gran Canaria, one of Spain’s Canary Islands. The company specialises in the design, installation and programming of industrial automation solutions. By working together, Reitec and Omron were able to form combine Reitec’s extensive experience in the design of industrial control systems with the latest Omron automation technologies, including collaborative robots (cobots).

210721_Omron_1Palletising is a task that often incurs high personnel, operational and economic costs. Javier Ruiz, Reitec’s programming engineer, comments: “Our customers wanted a very compact solution in terms of the space occupied when compared with the manual palletising of heavy boxes and very tall pallets.”

Jose Manuel Rodriguez, Reitec’s technical director, adds: “The RC-1 palletising robot is the perfect solution for these applications, due to the low acquisition cost combined with a very short return on investment. It has a small footprint compared with traditional palletising solutions, and also has the advantage of a consumption well below 100 watts at full capacity.”
