Baxter Research Robot rounds off university tour

Baxter Research RobotActive Robots is continuing its visits to universities and colleges to demonstrate the Baxter Research Robot for academic and corporate research laboratories. The Baxter Research Robot is perfectly safe to use around human beings without a safety cage.

The Baxter Research Robot will visit Portsmouth University on October 21 and the Technische University, Germany, on November 4 via Skype. These last two dates mark the end of a successful tour that has seen the Baxter Research Robot putting in virtuoso performances at universities up and down the UK, including Glasgow Caledonian University, Staffordshire University, Central Lancashire University, Surrey University and Kings College London,

The creators of the Baxter Research Robot are keen to demonstrate what can be achieved by the 6ft1in high humanoid robot, via its two seven-degree-of-freedom arms, integrated cameras (two in the wrists and one in the head), position and torque sensors.

Innovative hardware and accessories aside, academic researchers may be pleased to find out that the Baxter Research Robot is built on a standard Robot Operating System (ROS) framework, which provides libraries and tools to help develop and share cutting-edge applications. The ease of use and rapid development potential mean the Baxter Research Robot is the perfect platform for research, allowing generation of experimental data in support of research publications, and helping ensure papers are published with the best experimental backing possible.

Visit the Active Robots website for more information on the Baxter Research Robot. You will also find information on a range of accessories and grippers for the Baxter Research Robot.
