PGN-plus Permanent reduces operating costs

150713_SchunkPGN-plus Permanent is the latest innovation for the PGN-plus gripper from Schunk, employing a unique lubrication system. This provides faster, more even distribution of the lubricant in the PGN-plus Permanent gripper, even with short strokes.

The complete contour of the patented multi-tooth guidance on the PGN-plus Permanent is equipped with grease pockets, which ensures a continuous supply of lubricant. This principle of the minimal quantity lubrication delivers an increased lifespan for the PGN-plus Permanent.

“Schunk PGN-plus Permanent is a robust and perennial gripper, which reduces operating costs and offers a better performance than our current flagship PGN-plus,” says Dr Markus Klaiber, Schunk CTO. “PGN-plus Permanent ensures an excellent repeat accuracy of 0.01mm, and ensures the implementation of particularly efficient systems.”

150713_Schunk_2PGN-plus Permanent is equipped with an oval piston drive like its predecessor to ensure high forces in confined spaces. Schunk underlines the performance of the PGN-plus Permanent universal gripper with a 30-year functional warranty.

The Schunk PGN-plus Permanent seamlessly integrates into the PGN-plus family. Nearly the whole range of possible automatic applications can be process-reliably controlled with the PGN-plus Permanent universal gripper. Thus PGN-plus Permanent covers applications from machine/system loading in the metal cutting industry and foundries to assembly applications in the automotive and electrical industry through to delicate handling tasks in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. The PGN-plus family has been successfully used in applications with high temperatures, pollution and aggressive media as well as in clean rooms and explosive environments.

On request, the PGN-plus Permanent modules are available with a spring lock for mechanical gripping force maintenance that combines with compensation units for compensating angle errors. Moreover, a broad sensor program comprising of inductive proximity switches, magnetic switches and position sensors is available for the PGN-plus Permanent. Instead of many isolated applications, users reduce their internal coordination efforts by using the universal modular gripping system.
