Schunk recruits for Ireland and Scotland

160302_SchunkSchunk has strengthened its team with the appointment of Chris Burns to support the company’s customer base in Scotland, while the growing popularity of the Schunk automation product range in Ireland has been reflected by the addition of Barry O’Connor to its sales team.

Chris is an engineer with over 35 years experience under his belt, and has worked his way from the shop floor to the boardroom during his career. Commenting on the appointment, Schunk marketing manager Chris Guo says: “We are delighted to find a new team member of Chris’ calibre. He has an excellent employment record that is backed by a wealth of manufacturing experience. Furthermore, Chris has exceptional knowledge of the Scottish manufacturing industry and the needs of end users north of the border.

“The combination of Chris’ experience, enthusiasm and local industry knowledge is an exciting prospect when combined with the extensive range of high-end tool-holding, work-holding and automation products that Schunk has available.”

He concludes: “This appointment demonstrates our commitment to established customers in Scotland and it also gives us a platform for enhancing our sales growth in the region.”

Based near Dublin, the appointment of Barry O’Connor is a statement of intent from Schunk, as it dedicates an engineer to Ireland to increase the company’s market reach whilst enhancing the service and supply chain for existing customers.

In previous posts, Barry has worked as a toolmaker and maintenance fitter prior to turning his expertise to machine tool sales and power tool sales. He has completed two bachelor degrees in electronic engineering and information technology, which subsequently led to a change of career direction as an electronic technician. With a well-rounded career, Barry has a diverse skill set that perfectly fits the extensive range of Schunk products for automation and machine tool applications.

The new additions to the Schunk team will bolster the company’s outstanding reputation for delivering product and application innovation for the manufacturing industries.
