SCARA robot series handles payloads up to 15kg

210308_Omron_1Omron’s latest industrial robot, the new i4H SCARA is designed to meet the demands of mass customisation, allowing manufacturers to produce high mixes of products at low volume to offer a wider array of goods to people. The i4H SCARA follows the recent release of the i4L light duty SCARA robot.

The i4H boasts unique design features directly associated with Omron’s top of the line quality and innovation. Omron simplified the design of complex tools by incorporating Omron’s EtherCAT module that is connected directly on the robot arm. A new generation of embedded controller technology equals less space and less maintenance. The i4H also features interactive maintenance as built-in out of the box function. i4H SCARA’s high speed and high precision enable assembling components with precision and confidence.

210308_Omron_2“In today’s global economy, the impact of Covid-19 is undeniable. It has placed strict social distancing requirements and safety protocols in all factory operations. The need for a customised production line is now more important than ever before. The i4H plays and key role in automating workflow while allowing workers to socially distance and focus on other tasks,” said Motohiro Yamanishi, senior general manager of the robotics business development project at Omron.

Tom Mathias, president, and CEO of Omron Robotics and Safety Technologies, added: “Omron’s i4H SCARA robot fulfils the need for reliability when dealing with heavy payloads that need to be fast and precise, around the clock. The i4H is an ideal addition to a production line when concerning applications such as palletising and machine loading in the food and beverage industry.”

Highlights of the i4H SCARA include:

  • Higher payloads: Omron’s i4H SCARA can handle heavy payloads of up to 15kg. These higher payloads are critical in applications such as machine loading and unloading, palletising, and pick and place applications. The i4H is ideal for companies in the automotive, food and beverage, and consumer industries.
  • Seamless integration into existing production lines: Omron’s EtherCAT connectivity enables synchronisation between other automation devices. This facilitates advanced assembly, inserting and mounting processes that require high accuracy and demanding throughput, as well as ensured quality control with vision integration. Additionally, the i4H is available in a wide range of configurations to fit any work cell.
  • Maximise uptime: Users are able to control and mitigate any unplanned downtime by utilizing the best built-in interactive maintenance features. It comes with a first ever on-board display to simplify troubleshooting. The i4H comes equipped with the world’s first health lighting indicator. The user can take appropriate action by simply observing the colour that is displayed on the robot.
