Precision measurement at the heart of robotics

261105_HBKAt SPS 2026 (Hall 4A, Booth 365), Hottinger Brüel & Kjaer (HBK) will demonstrate how high-accuracy measurement data can be seamlessly integrated into modern automation architectures to deliver real-time, actionable intelligence for industrial machines and processes.

As manufacturers seek to simplify integration, accelerate commissioning, and improve machine performance, HBK is bringing its long-standing expertise in force, torque, weighing, and strain measurement into today’s automation ecosystems through IO-Link connectivity, real-time industrial communications, and edge data processing.

Under the theme “From Sensor to PLC”, HBK will showcase nine interactive demonstrations illustrating how precise measurement data can be acquired, analysed and directly used to drive industrial control systems.

Visitors will see how HBK’s force, torque and weighing technologies integrate seamlessly into modern automation architectures to: improve process quality and repeatability; simplify machine integration; reduce wiring and control system complexity; and deliver actionable data for automation and continuous process optimisation.

Precision measurement in the IO-Link ecosystem

A key focus of the exhibit will be the integration of high-accuracy measurement technologies within the IO-Link ecosystem, enabling machine builders and system integrators to connect critical force, torque and weighing data directly to industrial control systems.

This approach extends the benefits of intelligent automation to applications that traditionally require measurement accuracy levels found only in testing and validation environments.

Live 6-DoF robotics demonstration

HBK will also present a live robotic cell featuring its custom-engineered 6-degree-of-freedom (6-DoF) force and torque sensors. The demonstration will show how real-time multi-axis measurements enhance robotic precision and control, even in compact installations where integration space is limited.

Also featured at the booth will be the new BMX60 interface module capable of streaming torque, rotational speed, angle and power with fieldbus connectivity and data rates up to 5 kHz.

Visitors will also be able to explore the FS12DBX optical digiBOX, which combines fiber optic FBG data acquisition with real-time control capabilities, enabling new approaches to machine monitoring and process control.

Throughout the event, HBK product managers and application specialists will be available to discuss visitors’ integration challenges, whether related to new machine development, production equipment modernisation, or industrial digital transformation initiatives.

Members of the media are invited to visit HBK at Booth 365, Hall 4A, to experience the demonstrations and discuss key topics including industrial automation, IO-Link, robotics and the integration of measurement data into modern control architectures.
